Is the use of expired electronic components a guarantee of quality problems?
The answer, of course, is not necessarily, but the stakes are high.
For expired parts, if the unit price is not very high, it is generally recommended to scrap directly.
There are generally the following risks associated with using expired parts:
1) The solder/pin quality of parts is not easy to control
Welding feet/pins are prone to oxidation, of course, this has a great relationship with the preservation environment of the parts and whether it is affected with moisture. After oxidation of the parts, it is easy to appear false welding, air welding, welding and other bad tin, some fake welding is even difficult to be detected by visual inspection or SMT AOI machine, electrical test is sometimes good or bad.
Tip: Oxidation cannot be restored by baking, and most metals are accelerated by high temperature. Parts baking can only remove moisture and moisture, reduce parts because of the high temperature expansion of water and air caused by stratification, so that the solder will not adhere to the pollutants brought by water and air
2) Product problems
Products are made according to the quality of normal parts. What risks will the use of expired materials increase? If quality problems occur in the market, the company will not only lose its reputation, but also lose money. If it is about safety goods, the consequences are even more serious.
